Image Sensor/Image Diameter
The current system is setup to use the 12.5mm lenses; these are suitable lenses with a good field of view - however they do not permit full frame projection, meaning that the light they project onto the image sensor of the camera is smaller than the area of the complete image sensor (as shown in Figure 2). This means that whilst we are using 4 x 106 pixel image sensors, we are not taking full advantage of them.
When viewing the markers in ViconIQ either as the full frame preview or the regular 2D view, you will see that there is an area around the edge which is black (or where the marker doesn't show); this is basically the result of that lens reduction
Depth of Field
The Depth of Field can be calculated based on the lens, this provides us with a good understanding of where the markers will be viewed as being in focus and where their definition will be blured
If we calculate the Hyperfocal Distance, and then the distance to the object, we shall find that the nearest an object can be to the camera is 0.9m (closer and it will start to blur), the furthest away is a large number (+10m) and outside the room anyway.
