Step-by-Step
Two Person Capture
Introduction
Capturing two people at the same time is technically as simple as capturing one; however we will have problems with more markers being in the scene, as well as more occlusion from the other person. Therefore, serious consideration should be taken when deciding whether to capture two people simulataneously. If they do not actually interact, then capturing them simultaneously would only cause problems - if they do interact (fighting, boxing, etc) then you will need to capture simultaneously otherwise it will be impossible to synchronise.
Basic Setup
In order to capture two people, we follow exactly the same setup as one person (with a few exceptions); the process is as follows:
- Follow the procedure as defined for a single person capture
- Under the Capture group uncheck the Subject's Character under the Character group
- Follow the procedure starting from the Marker Placement
- It will help the identification of the second subject if the "offset marker" is placed on the left, instead of the default right (as shown below)
- After the ROM has been capture, and the subject calibrated, the new subject should appear as a Character in the Capture tab
- You should be now see both characters; if the first character doesn't appear, then it can be reloaded using the Character Management tab
- Two subjects will be captured and exported together in the FBX
- When importing (input Maya), we will have two source skeletons, otherwise the process is the same
